HIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE!

Yesterday, we all woke up to a historic time in Duval County. Late last night, Mayor Lenny Curry ordered city workers to take down the bronze statue of a confederate soldier. The Hemming Park Monument was a reminder of slavery, lynching, and white supremacy in our country. For decades, organizations and community leaders battled with our city to, “takeemdown.” The Duval County Democratic Black Caucus was there to march through the city, celebrating this historic time in Duval County.

Thanks to the efforts by our leaders, and our young generation in Duval County, they made it happen. This is not the end, only the beginning.

Let me end by saying: our elected officials work for us . we do not work for them. POWER OF THE PEOPLE!
