DUVAL COUNTY DEMOCRATIC BLACK CAUCUS MARCH FOR GEORGE FLOYD!

Last night, Duval County Democratic Black Caucus held their June Zoom meeting to further the discussion of police brutality in our city.  We had the pleasure hearing from Councilwoman, Joyce Morgan, President of Northside Coalition of Jacksonville, Ben Frazier and Black Caucus member, Leslie Jean Scott-Bart Attorney.

President Frazier spoke to the history making “March on Jacksonville” rally, and the demands from the black community concerning police brutality and accountability.  Other demands:  Release  bodycam videos for the last 3 years involving police shooting without any redactions, revise the video policy in this city,  a public declaration to end excess police force, and a citizen review board with subpoena power.

Councilwoman Joyce Morgan commented by saying: “We must identify problem cops and hold them accountable. I support what you and others are trying to do peacefully.  Another way to get change is to get your protesters to the ballot box.  We have to do a better job.  Ben you did it right way.”

The Democratic Black Caucus will continue to hold peaceful protests in Florida and Duval County.  Talking and making promises are over.  We will settle for nothing less than legislation concerning police reform.  We no longer listen to what you say, we watch what you do!
